Imenco Aqua is proud to announce that we have officially become part of UK‑headquartered AIS, a global leader in marine and protective solutions. This marks an important milestone in our journey and opens new opportunities for growth, innovation, and international collaboration.

AIS is a global leader in materials science technology for protecting critical infrastructure. The company develops, manufactures, and installs high‑performance solutions for hazardous and highly regulated environments, with products trusted across mission‑critical energy, emerging technology, transport, marine, defence, and industrial sectors. AIS holds 181 granted and pending patents and more than 93 active type approvals worldwide, operates in 14 countries, and employs approximately 800 people. This acquisition marks AIS’ first presence in Chile and further expands its reach in Norway following the acquisition of Ovun, a specialist in plastics engineering and embedded electronics for subsea and marine applications.

For more than 40 years, Imenco Aqua has been developing reliable, forward‑thinking aquaculture technologies from our facilities in Sunndalsøra and Haugesund, Norway, and Puerto Montt, Chile. Becoming part of AIS gives us a strong platform to extend our reach, accelerate the development of new technologies, and continue delivering the high‑quality service and expertise our customers rely on.

Jan Møllerhaug, Managing Director of Ovun AS og Tommy Storsveen, General Manager of Imenco Aqua

Tommy Storsveen, General Manager of Imenco Aqua:

“Our vision has always been to drive progress in aquaculture technology. By joining AIS, we gain a technology‑focused partner that shares our commitment to innovation and sustainability. Together, supported by AIS’ global network and depth of experience, we can strengthen our position in existing markets and open the door to new ones. We have already seen excellent collaboration potential and look forward to shaping the future of aquaculture technology together.”

Andrew Bennion, CEO of AIS, commented: “This acquisition is highly complementary to our recent Ovun acquisition and further accelerates our growth in the fast‑expanding aquaculture market. Imenco Aqua’s products are differentiated from our current offering and create clear cross‑selling opportunities across our customer bases. Drawing on Imenco Aqua’s expertise in Chile and its strong presence near Ovun in Norway, we are confident of a smooth integration and an excellent cultural fit between our businesses.”

Once fully integrated, Imenco Aqua will become part of the AIS Marine division and will be managed through Ovun in Norway where our teams will work closely together to develop a shared strategy focused on growth and collaboration.

Jan Møllerhaug, Managing Director of Ovun, added: “Imenco Aqua represents an important step for AIS and Ovun within the aquaculture market, and we foresee significant cross‑selling opportunities. I warmly welcome every member of the Imenco Aqua team and look forward to working together.”

As we begin this new chapter, Imenco Aqua will continue to focus on the aquaculture sector, operating with the same dedicated local teams. Our daily operations will continue as normal, ensuring continuity for our customers and partners.

We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support and trust of our customers, partners, and employees. As part of AIS, we look forward to an exciting future of growth and innovation.
